How the Heart Failure Unit at St Michael’s Hospital functions

The Heart Failure Unit visits are held Mondays to Fridays with clinic sessions held in both the morning and the afternoon in St Michael’s Hospital. You can call us 8am – 8pm.

The frequency of visits is highly personalised to ensure that our patients get the best follow-up plan and can be seen regularly when the need arises.

In general each visit to the HFU consists of an assessment by both a Heart Failure Nurse and a Cardiology Doctor (Registrar grade or Consultant).

Your visits may include tests such as blood tests, an ECG (electrical tracing of heart), Echo (ultrasound of heart) or a Chest X-Ray if these are necessary.
